Cake Toppers & Ornaments

I have a little trouble with consistency.  I would like to promise that I'll post once per week from now on, but that wouldn't last long and then I would have lied to you.  So instead I will promise to post when I feel inspired, and hopefully that will be more often than once per month!

Here are a few cake toppers and ornaments from February:

Baby shower sock monkey cake topper for a girl

Red and blue bird ornaments for spring and summer.  Who said ornaments are just for Christmas?

Beach destination topper without the water, just a sand colored base with flowers and shells

3 inch sock monkeys with a heart.  It is a cake topper and an ornament too.

This little sock monkey smash cake topper has been so popular that now I offer him in 3" and 4" sizes, as well as with a name on the base.

Happy New Year!

I'm so excited about 2012 and the wonderful things to come!!! This year is sure to bring adventure and loads of creativity.

I added so many new styles of cake toppers to my shop in 2011, and I know there will be many more unique sculptures coming this year.

I have also started painting again.  I was so inspired to paint during the week after Christmas that I completed two paintings in one week!  That is a record for me.  I'll post soon with pictures of my paintings!

Sock Monkey Santas with Heart Wedding Cake Topper or Ornament

Beach Destination Wedding Time!

Beach Destination Weddings are popular this time of year.  I can't think of a better way to escape the cold winter weather than by running to a lovely tropical island to get married!!!

Twin Monkeys First Birthday Cake Topper

The "Cute Factor" was bumped up in my studio this week when I received an order to make a twin monkey birthday cake topper for two cute little guys who will be turning 1 this month.

This is a new face style for me because they were to look just like the monkeys on the party invite.

I can't show you the invite because it has their names and address, but I think I did a pretty good job, and I was smiling all week as I worked on them.

I like them so much that I will be adding a "twin birthday monkey cake topper" listing in this style to my Etsy shop soon.

I've been making lots of custom sock monkey wedding cake toppers lately.

The sitting style has been popular.

I'm giving all of them heart shaped tails now.

I just love the idea that these are making people smile at weddings all over the US, Canada, and even a few in Europe!

My Latest Beach Destination Wedding Cake Topper

I love it when couples who are going to the beach for their wedding want a sock monkey cake topper, they're so fun to create!

I'm Back!

I'm home after a wonderful month at my parent's home Lake Okoboji, Iowa!

This is the first time I've tried going on "vacation" and bringing my artwork with me. I did not close down my Etsy shop, instead I brought all of my clay, my tools, and my pasta roller (for clay) and I set up shop on a little table where I could look out a massive picture window at the beautiful lake.

Next to my table I set up a nice big play area for baby G, full of fantastic toys and treasures my mom found at garage sales before we arrived, and he played and played and played.

So was I productive on my "vacation"? Here is what I did while away:



On the left is a 6" wedding cake topper with calla lilies and hydrangea on the base, and calla lilies and bells of Ireland in the bouquet. The wedding colors are silver and deep purple. Those hydrangea flowers took forever, and I love the result.

On the right is a 5" wedding caker topper (that was supposed to be 4 inches) with colors turquoise and red. The flowers are red roses, of course, and the bouquet has some white accent flowers. Aren't these great wedding colors? The turquoise really stands out.

I was so excited to have these two orders back to back so that I could get a picture of the 6" sock monkey wedding cake topper next to the 4" topper, but oops, after making the 6" topper, my internal scale was set high and I made the 4" topper 5 inches!!! The bride didn't seem to mind.





I made two of these little princess ballerina monkeys in Iowa. The first one was an Etsy order. I had it finished and my neighbor walked in with her 10 month old little girl and said she had to have one for her little princess' party. So I made another one for her. I LOVE this birthday cake topper!!!

and a happy little turquoise and yellow party monkey.

Whew, that's a lot of monkeys!!!

Twin Sock Monkey Cake Topper

This cake topper business is so fun. I got three orders last week for custom made toppers, and this one is a new style and certainly a personal favorite...it's "Twin Topper"!

I decided to make this a regular listing in my shop, for all of the twins having silly, whimsical sock monkey birthdays out there.
