Wonder Woman Sock Monkey Sculpture

I had a little fun yesterday during Baby G's nap. Yes I should be cleaning the house and working on custom orders. But sometimes a girl just has to have a little fun, ya know?

She is Wonder Woman sock monkey, a 4.5" sculpture. I have been wanting to do a series of sock monkey sculptures dressed as various characters for a while, but haven't found the time. I started dreaming about them two nights ago, and I just had to get one out. So here she is.

Wonder Monkey to the rescue!

Wonder Woman sock monkey is available in my etsy shop.

The Final Puck Emerges

After trying three different colors I finally settled on light brown horns for Puck.

I like the way his extra-large nose creates a visual balance with his horns and pointed ears.

He has real Tibetan lamb's hair on his legs. This took many hours because I added it one tuft at a time!

I gave him a leather satchel to carry his magical goodies in. The satchel is made of an old leather belt with a mother of pearl button. I made a flower out of lucite beads and wire and attached it to the satchel.

Check out his bushy tail in back.

Puck's balance was constantly changing as I added new elements to his body, and he stands nicely on his own now.

Puck is 14.5" tall, much larger than I'm used to. Here he is shown towering over my 4" Sarah art doll.

Winter Warlock

Remember the wonderful animated "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" movie from childhood? I loved watching it each year when it came on TV, back in the days before DVDs and DVRs.
I was thinking about what to do for the winter theme challenge for PCAGOE, and the winter warlock came to mind. He refused to leave until I sculpted him.
I considered doing the tamer "Mr. Winter", which is what the Warlock turned into after Kris Kringle presented him with a toy train and they went frolicking arm in arm singing "Put one foot in front of the other...".
But winter to me means blowing winds, cold temperatures, blizzards and the like (I was raised in Northern Iowa), so the warlock fits the theme in my mind.
Winter Warlock is made of polymer clay with a foil and wire armature. His tunic is fabric and his hair is a mixture of Tibetan lambs wool and polyester fur. He has been painted with acrylic paints. He is 8" tall and his arm span is 7" wide.
